The Solar Eclipse in Libra - Finding Beauty in the Darkness

This Solar Eclipse occurs at 21° Libra at 10:55 am PST / 1:55 pm EST on Saturday, October 14th. It will be most impactful for those with planets and major angles between 19° — 23° of Cardinal and Air signs - Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn, Gemini, and Aquarius

Prepare for a mesmerizing, annular solar eclipse display if you live in certain parts of the United States, including Oregon, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas, as well as some parts of California, Idaho, Colorado and Arizona! During this eclipse, the Moon will completely cover the Sun, but won’t block out the light entirely, there will be a halo of light or a “ring of fire” surrounding the Moon. Eclipses can be powerful to witness and bring significant energy shifts and opportunities for personal and collective transformation. With today’s eclipse happening in Venus-ruled, relationship-oriented, beauty-loving, balance-seeking Libra, expect new beginnings related to these themes to emerge from the darkness!

This eclipse may bring changes to our closest relationships, pushing us to address any imbalances or unresolved issues. It's a time for growth, healing, and redefining how we connect with others. We can also look to the house that 21° Libra falls in, in our natal chart - this can be the area of life that we experience the most relationship changes. As a personal example, this eclipse will happen in my 2nd house, meaning I can expect a change to my relationship with money.

Looking closer at the Libra influence, this sign emphasizes justice and fairness, so this eclipse can push us to become more attuned to social issues, creating a strong urge to advocate for positive change and equality.

Libra also emphasizes what we define as beautiful. During this time, we may discover our perception of what we find to be beautiful has shifted. This can be related to our own personal appearance or to the world around us. A great question to ask ourselves is, “At this moment in my life, what do I find beautiful about myself and why?”

With Mercury joining the Sun & Moon in airy Libra, and the seven other planets in either water or earth signs, the energetic stamp of today is curious, emotional, and sturdy. Without any fire placed planets though, it can feel harder to find motivation.

Venus,  the planetary ruler of today’s eclipse, is being opposed by Saturn.  This tells me that whatever intentions we set today, must be met with fierce dedication. We cannot go forth half-heartedly, we must go all in on ourselves and be willing to remain patient as we take aligned actions to fulfill our wishes.
